Academic Leader Group Coaching

An opportunity for department chairs, deans, associate deans, and senior staff leaders to meet with people at other institutions in their same/similar role while also benefitting from the support and guidance of a coach with experience in academic settings. 

These coaching groups meet monthly for an hour for 5 months and are comprised of 3-6 individuals in a similar role.

Discussions address the definitions, possibilities, benefits, and challenges of a given career stage and academia writ large; translation of academic culture and expectations; strategies for addressing realities and politics of academic departments and institutions; and resources for personal goal setting and work-life balance. Reflection tools support situational understanding and promote agency, clarity, and choice.
Kardia Group coaches bring substantial knowledge, experience, and passion to our work. We have studied, and continue to study, higher education as an organization, as a cultural entity, and as an environment for individuals. We have substantial experience with higher education, as insiders and/or as outsiders. We bring a commitment to understanding the impact of structures, roles, and identities on individuals, including matters such as climate-related issues, microaggressions, and academic and departmental cultures. We support the improvement of higher ed in part through individual faculty growth, success, and resilience.
This series may involve asynchronous components, interaction and discussion with other participants, and interaction with professional development experts.
